Dahal, Sharma register candidacies for NA Chair

Kathmandu, March 11: Narayan Dahal from the CPN (Maoist Center) and Yubaraj Sharma of the Nepali Congress (NC) have registered their candidacies for the post of National Assembly (NA) Chairperson.

Narayan Dahal, a candidate of ruling alliance, was proposed by Gopi Bahadur Achhami (MC) and seconded by Devendra Dahal of CPN (UML), Beduram Bhusal of CPN (Unified Socialist) and Mohammad Khalid of Janata Samajwadi Party.

Similarly, Sharma’s bid for NA Chair was proposed by Ananda Prasad Dhungana (NC) while NC’s Kiran Babu Shrestha and Kishor Kumar Singh of Loktantrik Samajwadi Party Nepal have seconded his candidacy.

The registration of the candidature was scheduled from 11:00 am to 13:00 pm today for the election to be held on Tuesday.

The post of NA Chair is vacant after the tenure of the then Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina ended last week.
