Couple Dead After Family Dispute Turns Violent

In Rangeli Municipality of Morang, a family dispute escalated into a deadly incident in which both husband and wife lost their lives, police say.

According to the District Police Office of Morang, Mukesh Kumar Mandal of Ward No. 5, Bahuwan, went to his in-laws’ home in Dhanpatti and fatally attacked his 21-year-old wife, Ambika Kumari Mandal.

Preliminary investigations indicate that on Tuesday morning at around 2:45 a.m., Mukesh assaulted his wife, beating her and stabbing her with a knife. After killing his wife, Mukesh reportedly took his own life by slitting his throat with the same knife, police said.

Mukesh had arrived at his in-laws’ home on Monday evening, and as disagreements between him and Ambika intensified, the violent incident occurred.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Leela Raj Lamichhane said that both bodies were found at the scene soon after Ambika’s death, with Mukesh lying with his throat cut.

Police said the bodies remained at the site until late morning. Considering the seriousness of the case, a team led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Janardan G.C. has gone to the scene to investigate further.

Authorities are continuing to collect more details and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
