Cold weather mars daily life in Terai

As thick fog blanketed the sky along with cold waves, daily life in Tarai has been seriously affected.

Despite dense fog in the morning, the days were sunny till last week. However, the weather has been severely cold with the least sunshine since Thursday.

The activities of community life together with people’s mobility are troubled as people have been staying indoors to remain warm. Similarly, the morning shifts of schools and campuses have been affected due to the cold wave.

The elderly citizens, poor, infants and new mothers are at higher risk from cold. While farmers are worried that the severity of cold could cause adverse effects on agricultural products particularly green vegetables and potatoes.

People’s hospital visits caused by cold-related problems have increased as said by Dr Nabal Kishor Jha, Chief of Province Hospital, Malangawa.
