Kathmandu – Continuing the campaign to remove unauthorized structures, bulldozers were deployed at the squatter settlements along the Bagmati River in Balkhu.

On Friday morning, a large number of security personnel were mobilized, creating a tense atmosphere as the bulldozers arrived. Local residents strongly protested, claiming the demolition began suddenly without any prior notice.

As the bulldozers started to operate, residents were seen scrambling to save their belongings. Some tried to move their possessions to a safe place while expressing anger as the bulldozers rapidly tore down the makeshift homes.

“We have nowhere to go. At least let us take out our clothes and food,” said a local woman, wiping her tears. “It’s unjust to evict us without any human compassion.”
