Bridge in Baltimore collapses due to ship strike  

Kathmandu, 25 March: Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed after a ship collided with it.

 “A part of a Baltimore bridge serving as both an essential highway artery and a hub for shipping along the East Coast collapsed early Tuesday morning after a container ship crashed into it, sending people into the water,” according to NPR.

Maryland Transportation Authority via its X account has issued a public alert to avoid the I-695 southeast corridor.

At least 20 people and several vehicles have fallen into the river due to the incident that took place early morning (US Time) on Tuesday, as US media reported.

The search and rescue operation is underway.
