Bodies of quake victims handed over to families

Kathmandu, Nov 6:  Bodies of all the 157 people who lost their lives in the Friday earthquake have been handed over to their respective families for their last rites.

According to the Home Ministry sources, the hand over was done Sunday after their identity was ascertained.

Among 157 dead,  99 are women and 58 men. In Jajarkot, 72 women and 33 men lost lives while Rukum Paschim recorded death of 27 women and 25 men.

The earthquake with 6.4 magnitude that had its epicenter at Ramidanda in Jajarkot, hit large stretch of lands in Nepal as well as north India at 11:47 pm on Friday, causing huge casualties and property damage in Jajarkot and Rukum West.

Similarly, among 256 injured by the earthquake, 146 have returned home after treatment while the remaining ones are undergoing treatment.

Nepal Police Headquarters informed that a total of 910 houses were destroyed, while 2,861 houses received partial damages.
