Bird flu has been detected in birds kept for research in Parsa. Following the discovery of bird flu in birds under the National Bird Research Program in Parwanipur, Bara, half a dozen species of birds and their feed have been destroyed.

Due to bird flu, around 2,000 chicks, approximately 1,200 Giriraj and other chicken breeds, 33 partridges, 47 white/black turkeys, and about 450 quails have been culled. Additionally, 835 kilograms of L1 feed, 455 kilograms of L2 feed, and 1,835 kilograms of L3 feed have been destroyed, according to Kham Bahadur Praja, the information officer of the National Bird Research Program in Parwanipur.

According to him, the bird flu, which appeared in the last week of Chaitra, has caused a loss of about 4.5 to 5 million rupees. “After bird flu was detected in turkeys, it subsequently appeared in other bird species on the farm, leading to the destruction of all,” he said. “We have completed all procedures to destroy the birds, eggs, and feed kept here.”

Information officer Praja mentioned that disinfection efforts such as lime spraying, burying waste, and burning with fire are currently underway at the affected farm.
