Biometric data collection for lawmakers’ electronic attendance begins in Nepal

Kathmandu—The collection of biometric details of lawmakers has begun for electronic attendance.

The process of collecting biometric data started on Thursday to record attendance electronically in the meetings of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly.

The biometric data collection of lawmakers from the thematic committees of the Federal Parliament, including the International Relations and Tourism Committee, Development, Economic Affairs and Good Governance Committee, Finance Committee, and Legislative Management Committee, has been completed.

Similarly, the collection of details for lawmakers from the Industry, Commerce and Labour, and Consumer Welfare Committee, and the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee is ongoing, according to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

On Friday, the biometric details of lawmakers from the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee, Federalism Strengthening and National Interest Committee, Infrastructure Development Committee, Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee, Women and Social Affairs Committee, and State Affairs and Good Governance Committee will be collected.

The Federal Parliament Secretariat also stated that on Monday, Baisakh 28, the biometric data of lawmakers from the Public Accounts Committee and the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee will be collected.

Both houses of the Federal Parliament have been convened on Baisakh 28.
