Bhaktraj Acharya passes away

Kathmandu, 26 Feb: Bhaktapraj Acharya, 81, a legendary singer passed away on Monday.

He breathed his last on the way to a Hospital after he felt uncomfortable at home, his family sources said.

Acharya, a pioneer in Nepali Music industry, has been bestowed the title of Bhajan Siromani for his contributions.

There are several of all-time favourite soulful songs to his credit including ‘Mutu Jalirahechha, Yo Man Galirahexa’, ‘Jati Chot Dinxau Deu Mayalu’ and melodic Bhajans – Tan Man Bachanle, Sab Nidaye Prabhu, to name a few.

His body would remain at the state in Nepal Academy of Music and Drama to enable people to pay their homage. The funeral will be performed tomorrow, according to the family.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, Satya and Swaroop, both accomplished artists.
