Barbara Foundation to award investigative journalists

Kathmandu, 15 April: Barbara Foundation will be announcing the recipients of the investigative journalist award on May 3, World Press Freedom Day.

The cash award, the biggest so far in Nepal, is given to investigative journalists every two year.

The three categories of cash award worth rupees 15 lacs, 7 lacs and 3 lacs will be given to journalists based on their investigative reports published during the past 24 months beginning Baishak 2079 BS and ending on Chaitra 2080.

According to the foundation release issued by its general secretary Mohan Ansari, the awarded reports should contain values capable enough to bring about changes in the country’s social, economic situations or even state mechanisms or have enormous impact on them.

The investigative reports that would be considered by the foundation should be the material already published in Newspapers, Television, Radio or podcast.

The foundation’s executive committee is headed by eminent ophthalmologist Dr. Sanduk Ruit.

In addition, the foundation will be awarding fellowships of rupees 2.5 lacs each to four journalists to study four different subjects on the same day.
