Banke police intensify crackdown on illegal riverbed material extraction

The District Police Office in Banke has taken steps to curb illegal extraction of riverbed materials. Chief Superintendent of Police Angur GC of the District Police Office, Banke, stated that regular monitoring and surveillance have been intensified to prevent illegal extraction and transportation of soil and riverbed materials from the Rapti River and other streams.

According to him, on Saturday alone, police seized three vehicles involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of soil and riverbed materials in Kohalpur Municipality-7, Lakhanhawa, and Baijanath Rural Municipality-2, Jabdahwa. A police team from the Area Police Office in Kohalpur took control of one JCB, one tipper, and one tractor.

The seized vehicles have been sent to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action, Superintendent GC informed. He added that based on public complaints about illegal extraction and transportation of riverbed materials, the District Police Office has been continuously conducting regular monitoring and surveillance to prevent the illegal exploitation of natural resources.
