The Araniko Highway section at Banepa, which had been blocked after a tipper truck collided with a scooter, killing the scooter rider, was reopened today after being cleared for traffic. A large number of security personnel were deployed to reopen the highway.

The collision occurred on Wednesday morning at Chandni Chowk in Banepa, where 31-year-old Oman Pradhan of Dhulikhel Municipality-5 died on the spot. Following his death, local people blocked the highway in protest.

The accident involved a Bagmati Province 01004 K 3423 tipper truck that struck a Bagmati Province 02-063 P 9189 scooter. The incident sparked tension in the Banepa area, and angry residents set the tipper on fire.

Security forces took control of the situation, and when protesters tried to burn the tipper, police used tear gas to disperse them.
