Bamjan remanded in custody

Malangawa, Jan 11: District Court, Sarlahi has issued an order to keep Ram Bahadur Bamjan, who is accused of sexual exploitation, in judicial custody.

Registrar at court, Sadan Adhikari, informed that judge Bishnu Prasad Regmi issued the order for Bamjan’s remand after conducting a hearing on whether to keep in custody or not.

With this, Bamjan has been sent to Mahottari prison.

When the hearing was going on in court, huge number of Bamjan followers had gathered outside. The self-declared ascetic Bamjan was sued in accusation of raping a minor female follower in his ashram at Lalbandai municipality, Sarlahi.

In February 2020, the court had issued an order to arrest Bamjan and launch investigation.

A team of sleuths had arrested Bamjan from his house at Budhanilakantha, Kathmandu, on Tuesday.
