Dengue infection tally exceeds 21,000
Kathmandu, 03 Sep: A total of 21,206 people have so far tested positive for dengue infection as per the data by the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division.
Dengue infection is increasing amidst projection by the Division that the dengue cases to rise from mid-August to mid-October. So far 13 infected have lost their lives to the dengue contagion.
Division Director Dr Rudra Prasad Marasini said dengue infection is increasing daily due to continuous rain.
Dengue was first detected in Nepal in 2004. In 2022, a total of 54,784 people were infected with dengue and 88 died due to the contagion.
Sunsari district has topped the list of dengue cases in the country. According to the Division, Sunsari district has reported 11,659 dengue infection cases.
Morang has the second highest infection cases- 2,242 while Dhading stands third with 2,101 cases.
