Argentina secured a spot in the semifinals of the World Cup by defeating Switzerland 3-1 in the last quarterfinal match. The game ended 1-1 in regulation time, but Argentina scored two additional goals in extra time to keep their title defense alive until the final four.

In the match, Alexis Mac Allister gave Argentina an early lead in the 10th minute with a striking header from a Lionel Messi corner. Despite maintaining possession, Argentina struggled to create clear opportunities. Argentina dominated the remainder of the match but couldn’t score, pushing the game into extra time. In the 112th minute, Julian Alvarez scored from a Julio Lopez pass, giving Argentina a 2-1 lead. Argentina continued to apply pressure and secured a third goal during injury time in extra time, with Lautaro Martinez finding the net. With this victory, Argentina will now face England for a place in the final.
