Parliament Hits a Full Logjam Over PM Shah’s Border Comments While Major Chiefs Snub RSP’s Peace-Talk Invite

The House of Representatives was adjourned for the day today as opposition members demanded presence of Prime Minister Balen Shah in the House and a clarification over his previous statement on Nepal India border dispute.

While Shah chose not to be present in the House, the government faced additional onslaught as the opposition also demanded a parliamentary probe committee into what they said, tampering of. Budget proposals, especially taxation rates when they were printed I in the Finance Ministry’s website.

The  entire opposition stood at its leg when the House began at 11:00 AM  and demanded that Prime MinisterShah clarify his earlier claim that Nepal has encroached India’s territory.  Speaker  DP Aryal’s advice to let the listed business of the House  to proceed and a dialogue side by side  for smooth running of the House was not acceptable to the opposition.

Opposition also demanded that a parliamentary committee be formed to investigate into the discrepancies at the tax rates in budget proposal presented in parliament and that  in the Finance Ministry website documents.

The Speaker adjourned the House for 15 minutes initially to encourage a dialogue, but all that went in vain, and I it was later decided to call the House in session tomorrow.

Meanwhile, RSP Chief Lamichhane called  an all party meeting today but Parties responded half heartedly ,as no top leader attended it. Harka Sampang’s Shram Sanskriti Party boycotted the meeting altogether making PM Shah’s clarification and apology a precondition.
