Construction of the Lahan Municipal Hospital in Lahan Municipality-10, Siraha, is nearing completion. The hospital’s infrastructure, aimed at providing accessible and quality healthcare to local residents, is over 80% complete.

According to the agreement between the municipality and the construction company, the building is set to be completed and handed over by Ashadh 15. Currently, a provincial hospital operates in Lahan.

However, this hospital serves not only Siraha but also patients from neighboring districts Saptari and Udayapur. As a shared healthcare center for these three districts, the provincial hospital faces a heavy daily patient load, causing delays and inconvenience for the public.

The new municipal hospital is expected to significantly reduce the patient burden on the provincial hospital, easing management issues. With the new facility, Lahan residents will have access to emergency and specialist services locally, allowing patients from neighboring districts to receive quicker services at the provincial hospital.

The municipal hospital is being constructed at a total cost of Rs 125.219 million, including VAT. The construction agreement between Lahan Municipality and Multitech Construction and Suppliers was signed on Chaitra 15, 2080. Lahan Municipality Mayor Mahesh Prasad Chaudhary considers this hospital a significant and proud achievement of his tenure.

According to Mayor Chaudhary, the hospital will be a boon for the poor, underprivileged, and rural residents who lack basic healthcare services. He stated, “Although we have a provincial hospital in Lahan, patients from Saptari and Udayapur also come here, leading to constant crowding. Our residents had to wait long even for basic treatment. With this new well-equipped hospital in the municipality, that pressure will naturally ease. This 15-bed hospital will primarily offer specialized maternity and pediatric services. The construction of two floors is almost complete, and there are plans to add more structures on the third floor as needed.”

The hospital building’s technical and physical structure is designed to be highly functional and scientifically sound. According to Mahesh Kumar Dev, manager of Multitech Construction and Suppliers, the number and arrangement of rooms in the hospital are designed to be convenient for both patients and doctors.

Manager Dev, providing an update on the construction progress, said, “We are working day and night without compromising on quality. The first floor of the hospital will have 40 rooms, including administrative, emergency, and OPD services, while the second floor will have 62 rooms, including a general ward, maternity ward, and operation theater.”
