Western and local winds cause cloudy weather in Nepal’s hilly regions

Kathmandu – Currently, Nepal is experiencing the influence of western winds and local winds. Due to this, the hilly and mountainous regions of the country are generally cloudy, while the weather in the remaining Terai regions is mainly clear, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division.

According to the division, the influence of western and local winds resulted in heavy rainfall in some districts on Wednesday.

This afternoon, the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces will be generally cloudy. Additionally, the Terai regions of Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as the hilly and mountainous regions of other provinces, will see partial cloud cover, while the rest of the Terai regions will remain mainly clear.

The division reports that there is a possibility of moderate rain or snowfall in a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in some areas of the hilly and mountainous regions of Madhes, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, and in one or two places in the Terai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

There is a likelihood of warm days in the hilly and Terai regions of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces, according to the division.

Similarly, tonight, the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces will be generally cloudy, while the Terai regions of Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as the hilly and mountainous regions of other provinces, will have partial cloud cover, with the rest of the Terai regions remaining mainly clear.

The division indicates a possibility of moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning in a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in one or two places in Madhes province.
