Rights activist Ruby Khan ends hunger strike after five-point agreement

Ruby Khan, a rights activist, has ended her hunger strike following a five-point agreement. The strike, which lasted 23 days, was concluded after an agreement was reached between Khan and Anand Kafle, a joint secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The agreement includes a commitment to review and expedite the judicial process concerning the investigation into the abduction, captivity, and murder of Nirmala Kurmi, which was filed on Chaitra 20, 2077. The Lumbini Province Police in Dang will investigate other related cases. If any weaknesses are found, legal action will be taken against the district police. The investigation into the public peace offense case filed against Khan in the district will be concluded immediately, and the role of the Superintendent of Police (SP) will be examined by the Police Headquarters. Additionally, arrangements will be made to ensure the security of Ruby Khan and other women rights activists, with instructions to be given to the district administration. Khan agreed to end her hunger strike under these terms.

To facilitate discussions with Khan, who was on hunger strike at Sanjivani Hospital in Nepalgunj, Prime Minister’s Press Advisor Deepa Dahal, Joint Secretary Anand Kafle, and AIG Sushil Singh Rathore visited Nepalgunj yesterday.
