Turkish Airlines flight tire catches fire during landing in Kathmandu

A Turkish Airlines flight, TK726, arriving from Istanbul, caught fire while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport.

According to Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Silwal from the airport security office, the fire occurred in the aircraft’s tire during landing.

“This morning, as the plane was landing, its tire caught fire. The fire was extinguished with the help of fire engines, and the situation is now normal,” he said. “The runway has been temporarily closed for inspection.”

He further informed that there were 273 passengers and 11 crew members on board. All passengers were safely evacuated.

Silwal stated that a technical inspection is currently underway.
