The government has once again increased public transportation fares. On Chaitra 25, fares were raised by up to 21 percent, and now, less than three weeks later, they have been increased by an additional five percent as of Wednesday.

The Department of Transport Management issued a notice stating that fares for both passenger and freight vehicles have been adjusted. According to the notice, fares for all types of passenger and freight vehicles have been increased by five percent.

The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport gave its approval in principle for the fare hike on Baisakh 12, as mentioned in the notice.

With the increase in fares, vehicles operating on inter-provincial routes will be allowed to charge higher fares.
