Kathmandu — As the war between the United States, Israel and Iran entered its eighth day, fears of a wider conflict in the Middle East have intensified. The U.S. administration has announced that it will launch what it describes as its largest and most decisive military strike on Iran later tonight.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in an interview with Fox News that the primary targets of the operation would be Iran’s missile-production facilities and launch systems. According to him, the objective is to destroy Iran’s strike capability and weaken its military capacity.

The escalation has intensified since Friday night. Israel carried out a heavy airstrike on Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, sending flames and thick smoke into the sky. Initial reports suggest the attack could affect Iran’s strategic communication and military supply lines.

Meanwhile, the conflict has taken a new turn with reports of Russia’s involvement. According to reports citing U.S. officials, Russia has been providing Iran with intelligence support. The information reportedly includes the locations of U.S. warships and military aircraft deployed in the Middle East.

U.S. officials have expressed concern that such targeting intelligence could enable Iran to directly strike American military bases in the region. Attention is now focused on the planned U.S. strike tonight and how it could shape the next phase of the conflict.
