Janakpurdham – After coming under controversy over his appointment, Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav of Madhesh Province is headed to Kathmandu to hold talks with the Nepali Congress.

On Tuesday, Yadav held a press conference at a hotel in Janakpurdham and said that the party’s Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka has taken interest in his appointment, which is why he is going to Kathmandu for discussion.

He also said he will consult his own party, the CPN (UML).

On Sunday night, the Province Head Sumitra Subedi Bhandari appointed Yadav as Chief Minister under Article 168(3) of the Constitution in a hotel located on the Mahottari–Sindhuli border (a hotel in Bardibas).

Following the appointment controversy, the government has recommended the removal of the Province Head Bhandari.

In response to his appointment dispute, Yadav has now said he is ready to accept the leadership of the Nepali Congress, adding that he had earlier supported a government formed under the Congress’s leadership and cannot accept another party’s leadership.

He further claimed his appointment is constitutional. Yadav also acknowledged that after the previous Chief Minister Jitendra Prasad Sonal failed to secure a vote of confidence, the Province Head, under Article 168(3) of the Constitution, appointed him, thereby enabling the swearing-in.

He added that his official office in the Chief Minister & Cabinet Secretariat has been burnt, so he has not taken on the responsibilities yet.
