Police interrogates two pro-monarchy officials and releases them after paperwork

Kathmandu – The police have detained Asmita Bhandari, the president of the World Hindu Federation, and Dr. Faniraj Pathak, the former king Gyanendra Shah’s press secretary, for questioning regarding their active involvement in celebrating the former king’s birthday.

According to police sources, both individuals were held throughout the day and were released in the evening to their families after signing a document.

Bhandari, who was taken into custody on Friday morning from Baneshwar, was questioned for several hours before being released. The police inquired about the reasons behind the celebration, the source of funds, and the purpose of inviting people to the event. Bhandari also revealed that the police questioned her involvement in an incident on Chaitra 15 and her relationship with Durga Prasai.

In a similar manner, Dr. Faniraj Pathak, who was also detained on Friday morning, was released to his family after signing a document. Police instructed him not to refer to the former king as ‘His Majesty King Gyanendra’ in the future, to avoid making such posts on Facebook, and to delete any existing posts of that nature. He was released in the evening, around 7:45 PM.
