Pokhara – Twelve people who were seriously injured when a bus fell into the Marsyangdi River from the Prithvi Highway in Aabukhaireni, have been airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment.
Some others had been sent to hospitals in Abukhareni and Chitwan earlier.
So far, 41 people have been rescued from the accident site, but the exact condition of each individual is not yet known.
According to Deepak Kumar Rai, spokesperson for the District Police Office, no one has been declared ‘dead’ officially so far as the authorities have to follow certain procedures for that.
The bus, with registration number UP 53 FT 7623, was traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu when it fell from the road into the river.
DSP Rai informed that there were 43 people–all Indians– in the bus, and that included the driver and the assistant driver.
A medical team from the Nepal Army is already in the site providing necessary medical treatment to the needy.
