12 Dead, 8 Injured After Kathmandu-Bound Bus Plunges into Tamakoshi River

Twelve people have died in a bus accident near Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap. Dr. Keshav Singh Dhami, Medical Superintendent of Manthali Hospital, informed that eight people, including the bus driver, were injured in the accident.

The Araniko Yatayat bus (registration number Bagmati Province 03-01-005 Kha 9975), heading from Kathmandu to Okhaldhunga, plunged about 100 meters off the road into the Tamakoshi River at Masantar in Manthali Municipality-6, Ramechhap.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bhola Bhatta of Ramechhap stated that the injured are currently receiving treatment at Shuvajeevan Hospital in Khurkot, Manthali Hospital, and Tamakoshi Hospital.

He further added that the bus driver has been taken into police custody. Police reported that the search for the remaining passengers is still ongoing.

Dr. Dhami further informed that the identities of two additional victims are yet to be established.
