Kathmandu — The Government of Nepal has revised office hours to 9 am–5 pm from today, aiming to reduce fuel consumption and improve efficiency.

Following a Cabinet meeting held on Sunday, the new schedule—along with a two-day weekend (Saturday and Sunday)—has come into effect from Monday.

With the implementation of the new rule, there has been noticeable early-morning activity at major government offices, including Singha Durbar.

As offices that previously opened at 10 am now begin at 9 am, employees have started heading to work as early as 8 am. Increased congestion has been observed at Singha Durbar gates around 8:30 am, with traffic movement in Kathmandu also starting earlier than usual.
