In Kathmandu, a team of security personnel successfully rescued 89 passengers trapped by a sudden flood in the Roshi River in Kavrepalanchok. On Monday night, heavy rainfall caused the river’s flow to increase, leaving passenger microbuses stranded on the road.

The joint team of the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police worked throughout the night to rescue the passengers at risk due to the flood. According to District Police Chief SP Komal Shah, all passengers were safely evacuated to secure locations using ropes and rafting boats under challenging conditions.

All rescued passengers have been sent to their respective destinations after completing necessary procedures. District Police Chief Shah, along with SP Madhav Regmi, head of the Armed Police Force’s 15th Battalion, and a team from the Nepal Army, were directly involved in the rescue operation.

The flood has damaged various sections of the BP Highway, causing complete disruption of vehicular movement on the road. Similarly, in the Shrikhandpur area of Kavre, a school bus with 35 students was also trapped by the flood. The Armed Police Force’s 15th Battalion team safely rescued the students.

Due to continuous rainfall, the risk of floods and landslides has increased in various parts of the district, prompting security agencies to urge heightened vigilance.
