Xi and Biden to meet Wednesday at Filoli

Kathmandu, 15 Nov: Joe Biden, president of the United States and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping are holding a one-to-one conversation at a private country house in Filoli, California at 10.45 am (US time), according to the South China Morning Post.

Xi will receive a state visit-level reception by the US side, it said adding, the talk that is supposed to last for hours is set to include a landmark deal on the governance of AI.

Biden is not only looking to demonstrate to Americans – but also to Xi directly – why an improved relationship with Beijing is in everyone’s interests, said CNN.

The success of the meeting would be getting back on a ‘normal course’ with China, it said quoting Biden. Prior to his departure for California, it added, Biden said that included “corresponding, being able to pick up the phone and talk to one another if there’s a crisis, being able to make sure that our militaries still have contact with one another.”
