Writ petition filed against Rabi Lamichhane

A writ petition demanding the cancellation of Rabi Lamichhane’s federal lawmaker post has been registered in the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

Rabi Lamichhane, once came into limelight as a TV presenter, is now an elected lawmaker from Chitwan-2. He also chairs the Rastirya Swatantra Party.Yubaraj Safal along with one more person has filed the case against Lamichhane; Bimal Poudel, spokesperson of Supreme Court informed Deshsanchar.

The petitioners have demanded removal of Lamichhane from both the post- party chair and member of the House of Representatives- questioning the legality of Lamichhane’s citizenship.

The date given for the hearing is Poush 6 (December 21) as informed by Poudel.

Lamichhane, a US citizenship holder in the past, has claimed that he has already surrendered his US citizenship and acquired Nepali citizenship.
