Kathmandu – Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has strongly condemned what he describes as unauthorized amendments to the civil service bill, labeling them as a grave crime. On Tuesday, he expressed his discontent through social media, accusing those responsible of committing a severe offense against the nation and its people, as well as disrespecting the sovereign parliament.

“The unauthorized changes to the civil service bill are not a minor issue. They represent an insult to our country and parliament,” Dr. Koirala emphasized in his statement. He further called for immediate and strict action against those involved and demanded that the altered provisions be restored to their original form.

Dr. Koirala also insisted that all necessary formalities must be completed before proceeding with any part of the bill, stating, “No work on this bill should progress without a cooling-off period, and it should not be allowed to move forward as it is now.”

Highlighting the need for further discussion in parliament, he stressed that the bill’s processes should be conducted correctly and transparently. This incident, he noted, has severely challenged trust in parliamentary operations and the legislative process.

Congress MP Chandra Bhandari has also opposed the amendments, claiming there were deceptive, fraudulent, and self-serving motives involved, and remarked that the country’s moral foundation has been deeply shaken.
