Kathmandu – The leader of the main opposition party and chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has accused the two major parties of turning Parliament into a playground for intermediaries. Speaking in the House of Representatives on Monday, he emphasized that the government must earnestly pursue democracy, good governance, social justice, and economic prosperity. “If serious reviews and tough decisions are not taken, the situation may become explosive,” he warned in Parliament.

He expressed concern that the country is facing a multi-dimensional crisis. Referring to the promises and visions shared with the people during the comprehensive peace agreement and constitution drafting, he said today’s reality no longer aligns with those commitments, and that the current government’s style of functioning has insulted all those dreams and pledges.

Questioning whether the country is progressing according to the vision presented during the peace agreement, Prachanda stated that corruption, anarchy, and disorder have taken root; access to public services has become difficult; and the state has failed to provide necessary protection to marginalized communities.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the roles played in Parliament and its committees, he harshly criticized that even though bills were passed by consensus, they could not move forward in the House of Representatives due to political maneuvering and interference.
