The Metropolitan City awarded Olympic medalist Palesha five lakh rupees

Govardhan, who is the first Nepali athlete to win an Olympic medal, arrived in Nepal on Wednesday. Today, the metropolitan city awarded her 500,000 rupees and her coach, NR Coach Kaviraj Negi, 300,000 rupees. The awards were presented by the mayor of the metropolitan city, Balen Shah, and the deputy mayor, Sunita Dangol.

A team from the National Sports Council, with traditional music, went to Tribhuvan International Airport to honor Palesha. Immediately after her landing, the council conducted a city tour for her.

Minister of Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary and the member secretary of the National Sports Council, Taklal Gissing, were at the airport to welcome Palesha. Both were also present during the city tour.

Speaking at the council, Coach Kaviraj Lama mentioned that they participated in the competition with the intention of winning. Palesha expressed her happiness, stating, “I am very happy. With the love and support everyone has given me, I brought home a medal in just one month of training. If we make an effort, we can succeed. Therefore, we must keep trying.”
