The jail authority handed Charles Sobhraj to immigration department
Charles Sobhraj has been taken to the immigration department Friday morning.
Though the jail authority had planned to free him Thursday evening, Sobhraj had to spend one more night as the guest in the jail upon the request of his lawyers.
He would likely be taken straight to the International airport in Kathmandu for his final destination to France with prohibition hereafter to visit Nepal, as said by the officials of the immigration department.
Sobhraj has stressed his wish to spend time with the family including his wife Nihita Biswas before his deportation. But his lawyer Gopal Sibakoti’s statement on Thursday that he would be suing the Nepal government for compensation against what he said his illegal imprisonment alarm the government.
The Supreme Court Wednesday has ordered release of serial killer Charles Sobhraj with instruction to the government to send him back France, his own country, within 15 days. The order was issued by a division bench of justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Til Prasad Shrestha. The bench said, “If it is not necessary to imprison him for other cases, he needs to be released and arrangement made to send him back to him home within 15 days”.
