Tamu Lhosar celebrated in Kathmandu (Pictures)
The Gurung community is celebrating Tamu Lhosar across the country on Monday, marking their New Year according to the Nepali calendar.
Tamu Lhosar falls on the 15th of Paush and is a significant occasion for the Gurung people. In their traditional calendar, time is organized into a 12-year cycle, with each year represented by a different animal. This year’s Tamu Lhosar ushers in the “Year of the Snake.”
In Kathmandu, members of the Gurung community, dressed in their vibrant traditional attire, participated in a festive procession from Basantapur to Tundikhel to celebrate the occasion.
A special event was organized at Tundikhel, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh, serving as the chief guest.
