T20 Worldcup : The opportunity to defeat another test team by forgetting the loss of one run
Kathmandu – In the T-20 World Cup cricket, Nepal will compete against Bangladesh in the final group stage match at 5:15 AM on Monday. After losing to South Africa by one run and ending their chances of advancing to the next stage, this match presents Nepal with an opportunity to defeat a Test team.
However, for Bangladesh, this match is an opportunity to advance to the next stage by winning. The Nepali team, disappointed after the one-run loss, did not practice on Sunday. The players were given rest as they were mentally strained.
According to the ICC schedule, Nepal’s practice was supposed to be from 1 PM to 4 PM local time at Arnos Vale Stadium, but the team did not attend. Following the loss to South Africa, this match is only for the prestige for Nepal. Thus, the players were given rest. However, Captain Rohit Paudel considers this match very important for making history.
Rohit says, “This match will be just for prestige, but we want to make it memorable before returning home.” Coach Monty Desai also admits he can’t forget the one-run loss. He says, “I still can’t get over yesterday’s loss, and naturally, the players are also pained by the one-run defeat.” However, he expresses hope to defeat Bangladesh and return home with a positive result.
Bangladesh is under relatively more pressure to reach the second stage from Group ‘D’. If Bangladesh defeats Nepal, they will directly enter the Super Eight. But if they lose, they will have to wait for the result of the other match between the Netherlands and Sri Lanka. If the Netherlands defeats Sri Lanka by a wide margin, the Dutch team also has a chance. Therefore, Bangladesh wants to defeat Nepal and secure their place in the Super Eight based on their own result.
