Kathmandu – The Supreme Court has refused to issue an order to reinstate Kulman Ghising, who was dismissed from his position as the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.

Ghising had gone to the Supreme Court seeking reinstatement after being dismissed by the government on Chaitra 11th. After three days of hearings on his writ petition, a joint bench of Justices Kumar Chudal and Nityananda Pandey refused to issue an interim order on Thursday.

According to the Supreme Court administration, with the refusal of an interim order on Kulman’s writ, the path for him to return to his position has been closed. Similarly, the newly appointed Executive Director, Hitendra Dev Shakya, had also filed a petition requesting an expedited hearing on his writ against the decision of the then-government to remove him three years and eight months ago. The Supreme Court, conducting a joint hearing on both petitions, refused the interim order and ordered that the writs be given priority.

On Ashar 27, 2078 BS, the then-government removed Shakya and appointed Ghising as the Executive Director. The government dismissed Ghising with less than four months remaining in his term.
