Kathmandu—Today is the first Monday of the month of Shrawan this year. Devotees have thronged the Pashupatinath Temple as well as all Shiva temples across the country since early morning.

For the visitors who came for worship and darshan, all four gates have been opened since 3:30 AM to allow devotees to enter and have darshan.

According to the Pashupati Area Development Trust, arrangements have been made for security, volunteer deployment, managing the darshan process, health camps, drinking water, and more.

Because the month of Shrawan and Mondays are both sacred to Lord Shiva, large crowds usually gather on these occasions. During Shrawan, many devotees also undertake the Bol Bam pilgrimage from Sundarijal to offer water at the Pashupatinath Temple.

Shrawan is especially known as the “month of green, red, and yellow.” On this occasion, many women wear clothes, bangles, and adornments in those colors. Most of the women devotees who come to Pashupatinath are dressed accordingly.
