Kathmandu – Senior leader of the Nepali Congress, Dr. Shekhar Koirala, has expressed dissatisfaction with the corruption within the government and the moral decline of the coalition administration.

In a Facebook post, Koirala sarcastically criticized the government, alleging that intermediaries drop off bribes in briefcases at the ministers’ quarters early in the morning.

He wrote, “This is how things operate here. Intermediaries come early to drop off bribes at the ministers’ quarters, and despite evidence against them, ministers who should be dismissed often manage to sweet-talk the prime minister and continue to attend cabinet meetings.”

Koirala’s comments come in light of several ministers from the government led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli being implicated in bribery scandals without facing any consequences.

He also criticized both the opposition parties and the coalition partners. Koirala stated, “Opposition members in the parliament perform ceremonial demands for resignations, while we, the Nepali Congress, stand as mere ‘silent witnesses.'”

His remarks not only reflect dissatisfaction within the Congress party but also raise serious questions about the moral foundation of the governing coalition.

Koirala suggested that there is a tacit agreement between the government and political parties, allowing corruption to become quietly institutionalized.
