Seven Protesters Arrested as Police fired tear gas at Damak

Jhapa: A clash occurred between protesters and police in Damak, Jhapa, on Sunday afternoon. During the incident, police took control of seven protesters who were enforcing the shutdown.

Federal Democratic National Forum Chairman Kumar Lingden himself took to the streets to enforce the shutdown. The protesters, concentrated on the main road of Damak, demonstrated their strength.

Around two hundred protesters participated, sitting on the road and chanting slogans throughout the day as part of their demonstration.

When police attempted to bring the protesters under control, the protesters retaliated by throwing stones at the police.

The stone-throwing caused damage to several vehicles, including a Scorpio with the license plate number Me 1 Cha 5161. During the clash at Damak Chowk in the afternoon, police fired three rounds of tear gas to bring the situation under control.

Police arrested Padam Begha, Dhankumar Yonghang, Shukra Limbu, Aditya Fiyak, Prakash Lawung, Sandesh Limbu, and Nasamang Limbu, who were enforcing the shutdown.

After police began forcefully controlling the protesters, a large number of protesters also took to the streets.

The arrested individuals have been taken to the Area Police Office in Damak.
