The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) held a demonstration in the Balkhu area of Kathmandu. Demanding the restoration of the monarchy, the RPP held a rally in Balkhu on Tuesday. Key RPP leaders addressed the gathering.

Addressing the rally, RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden said that a new agreement should be made that accommodates everyone, from the king to the republicans. He demanded the immediate release of the party’s senior vice presidents, Rabindra Mishra and Dhaval Shamsher Rana, who were arrested.

Similarly, he expressed dissatisfaction with the role of the police during the demonstration by pro-monarchy supporters in Tinkune on March 28th. He accused Police Chief Deepak Thapa of acting like a cadre of the CPN-UML.

A large number of security personnel were deployed in the Balkhu area today. The demonstration affected traffic flow.

The RPP had requested Bhrikutimandap for the rally, but the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, asked them to hold the program in either Balkhu or Sifal Chaur. The RPP then chose Balkhu.

Indian media were also present to cover today’s event.
