‘River Festival and Mahajalyatra’ in Bagmati river (Pictures)

The Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA), today, has organized ‘River Festival and Mahajalyatra’ as part of the Bagmati river conservation drive.

Nepal River Conservation Organization and Friends Club have also collaborated for the event.

The event began from Bagmati bridge at Kupondole, Lalitpur at 7:00 am marked with a rafting expedition.

Mayor of the Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Chiribabu Maharjan, also attended the occasion.

Traditional musical instruments were played at the beginning aiming to sensitize participants about the current condition of the Bagmati River and the urgency to conserve the sanctity of the river water. On the occasion, participants had also cleaned the river bank.

The event was held to highlight, promote and conserve the Bagmati river civilization and promote rafting and water tourism in the Kathmandu Valley, said the organizer.
