Public Outcry Leads to Dismissal of Police Over Baluwatar Incident

Kathmandu – The Metropolitan City has taken action against municipal police officers whose behavior was deemed inappropriate after they seized a scrap collector’s bicycle and roughly handled him in Baluwatar on Wednesday morning.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has taken action against the municipal police officers accused of roughing up a scrap collector riding a bicycle at 8 am on Wednesday. The municipal police faced criticism after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The municipal police involved in the incident in the Baluwatar area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-4, who conducted themselves in an undignified and unprofessional manner, have been relieved of their duties.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City Municipal Police Chief Rajunath Pandey issued a statement on Wednesday informing that those involved in the incident have been dismissed and recalled to the main office.
