Kathmandu – Former President Bidhya Devi Bhandari emphasized that prosperity should not be limited to just a handful of people, but must be shared by the common citizenry.

Addressing the Rising Nepal Summit 2025, organized in Kathmandu to mark the 10th anniversary of Nepal Khabar, she stressed that political stability is key to creating a favorable investment climate in the country.

President Bhandari noted that prosperity cannot be measured solely by economic indicators of the moment. For it to be sustainable, she said, it must be linked continuously with political resolve, social inclusion, constitutional commitment, and national dignity.

She highlighted that models from other societies should not be copied outright; instead, each society’s own needs, resources, context, and opportunities must be deeply analyzed to determine its path to prosperity.

She said:

“We must not forget: prosperity must not be for only a handful of people, but for the general population. Alongside investment, employment, inclusivity, rural development, women’s empowerment, and environmental responsibility must also be ensured.”

Describing Nepal as entering a new era of stability, change, and development, former President Bhandari called upon investors to consider Nepal as a promising destination.
