President Poudel returns to Nepal

Kathmandu – President Ram Chandra Poudel returned home today after completing his visit to Switzerland and Germany. Poudel returned to Nepal on Wednesday morning from Berlin, Germany, via Doha, Qatar.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane, and other government representatives were present at Tribhuvan International Airport to welcome President Poudel.

At Berlin Brandenburg International Airport, Nepal’s Ambassador to Germany Ram Kaji Khadka and high-ranking German government officials bid farewell to President Poudel. Earlier on Monday, President Poudel and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier had a delegation-level meeting in Berlin, where they discussed the relationship and mutual interests between the two countries.

Before the bilateral talks, the German government honored President Poudel with a guard of honor. This was President Poudel’s first visit to Germany at the head of state level since 1986. During his stay in Germany, President Poudel visited various institutions related to science, technology, and research on Sunday.

During the visits, scientists briefed him on the impacts of climate change. In response, President Poudel urged for research on the effects of climate change and requested developed countries to propose immediate solutions to mitigate these effects.
