President Paudel presents government’s policies, programmes for fiscal year 2082-83 BS

Kathmandu, May 2: President Ramchandra Paudel has presented the government’s policies and programmes for the fiscal year 2082-83 BS (2025-26).

e has been presenting the government’s new policies and programmes before a joint session of the House of the Representatives and the National Assembly at the New Baneshwar-based Federal Parliament Building. The session convened at 3:00 pm today.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli handed a copy of the document containing the policies and programmes to President Paudel.

Prior to this, the Head of the State was welcomed to the Federal Parliament Building by Speaker Devraj Ghimire, NA Chairperson Narayana Prasad Dahal and Federal Parliament Secretariat’s Secretary-General Padma Prasad Pandey.

Upon arrival at the Federal Parliament Building, a contingent of the Nepali Army (NA) presented a guard of honor to the President who also serves as the Supreme Commander of the NA.

Vice President, former Prime Ministers, former Speakers, heads and representatives of constitutional bodies, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions in Kathmandu and delegates from the private sector are attending the session.

The Public Service Broadcasting: Nepal Television and Radio Nepal, and other media houses made a live coverage of the event.

The Federal Parliament Building has been decorated with the national flag and festoons. The Secretariat had issued special pass and invitations to over 400 guests to the presentation session of the government’s policies and programmes.

As per Article 95 of the Constitution, the President may address either a meeting of any House or a joint sitting of both Houses of the Federal Parliament, and summon the members for that purpose. The President shall address the first session after election to the House of Representatives and a joint sitting of both Houses of the Federal Parliament after the commencement of the first session of each year.

The parliament will conduct the preliminary discussions on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill on May 13. As per the Constitutional calendar, the Finance Minister shall present the budget for the upcoming fiscal year before a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Jeth 15 of the Nepali calendar each year.
