Prasai Free on bail , court says not enough evidences for his continued detention

Kathmandu – The Patan High court today ordered release of Pro- monarchy leader Durga Prasai and three others saying there were not credible grounds to have them in detention during the trial.  The release of  prasai cones nearly four months after their detention slapping charges like murder, arson and destruction of  public property , charged that many thought were designed to harass them .

Prasai, a key personality leading the pro- monarchy rally on March two had escaped to India immediately but surrendered before the Nepal police a couple of weeks later.  A division bench of Patan High Court comprising justice Tanka  Prasad Gurung and Dilli Ratna Shrestha ruled that there was lack of credible evidences to have him detained further as they face trial  , and asked Prasai to furnish a bail amount of Rs Three lakh or a bank guarantee of the same amount.

Another bench of the same court asked for Rs 25 lakh bail for his release on banking fraud case.

Prasai, the most formidable opponent of Prime Minister K P Oli has accused him of indulging in several corruption cases cheating the nation in billions.
