Pokhara Triumphs in First-Ever NPL Super Over, Defeats Biratnagar for Second Win
Kathmandu – In the first-ever Super Over match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), Pokhara emerged victorious.
After setting a target of 19 runs in the Super Over, Pokhara won as they restricted Biratnagar to just 5 runs. With this win, Pokhara secured their second victory, while Biratnagar’s chances of making it to the playoffs weakened.
In the Super Over, Biratnagar’s Sandeep Lamichhane bowled for them, and Reimon Reifer of Pokhara hit two sixes off the first two balls, eventually scoring a total of 19 runs with three boundaries. In reply, Biratnagar managed to score only 5 runs in their Super Over.
Earlier, in the regular 20-over match, Biratnagar scored 139 runs. In response, Pokhara, chasing a target of 140, also scored 139 runs in their 20 overs, pushing the game into a Super Over.
For Pokhara, Andres Gous scored 39 runs, while Kushal Bhurtel made 31 runs. Additionally, Reimon Reifer played an unbeaten knock of 34 runs. Dinesh Kharel and Michael Leask both scored 11 runs each. For Biratnagar, Pratish Jisi took 4 wickets, and Chris Sole claimed 2 wickets.
Earlier, Biratnagar, batting first, scored 139 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Scott Edwards made 45 runs, while Lokesh Bam contributed 26 runs. Nicholas Kirton scored 19 runs, and Basir Ahmad remained unbeaten on 21 runs. For Pokhara, Sagar Dhakal took 2 wickets, while Reimon Reifer, Dinesh Kharel, and Kushal Bhurtel each took 1 wicket.
