Plane Crash in Brazil kills 61 aboard

Kathmandu: An aircraft has crashed at Sao Paulo state in Brazil killing all 61 people on board.

The ATR 72-500 was flying from Cascavel to Guarulhos International Airport on Friday with 57 passengers and 4 crew, international media reported.

The plane crashed in the residential area yet no one was injured at the crash scene, while a house was reportedly damaged.

The cause of the crash that is reported as the worst plane crash since 2007 in Brazil is yet unknown whereas “the plane, which was built in 2010, had been in good operating condition, with valid registration and airworthiness certificates” BBC said quoting Brazil’s civil aviation agency.

The black box of the ill-fated plane has been retrieved as reported.

The government has declared three days of mourning and the President grieved for the loss and extended the solidarity with victims’ families.
