Kathmandu – From 1 st Shrawan (mid‑July), the government will cease providing pensions and gratuity to newly appointed employees—they will instead be enrolled in a contribution-based social security system.

The Ministry of Finance has issued a circular asking all ministries, regulatory bodies, public institutions, boards, committees, etc. to implement the new social security system. The government has clarified it will not bear liabilities arising from contributions not made under this scheme .
